Armed Forces Bone Marrow Transplant Centre (AFBMTC) provides specialized care for patients suffering from various malignant & non-malignant blood disorders and is a dedicated centre for clinical haematology and bone marrow transplant.
Inaugurated on 20 Mar 2001, the First bone marrow transplant was carried out on 19 July 2001. Till Sep 2024 around 1700 bone marrow transplants have been carried out at this centre.
Role
- To provide stem cell transplantation, immunosuppressive therapy, high-dose chemotherapy and other specialized treatments to patients suffering from various blood disorders.
- To act as a tertiary care referral centre for stem cell transplant and management of blood diseases.
- To provide training facilities to doctors, nurses and paramedics in the field of clinical haematology, haem-oncology and stem cell transplant.
- To carry out research and clinical trials in the field of stem cell therapy and clinical haematology.
- To create awareness regarding stem cell therapy, prevention and treatment of various haematological diseases.
- To collaborate with national and international experts in order to provide state-of-the-art facilities to patients with blood disorders.
